The Johnston County Coalition of Chambers is thrilled to partner with Johnston County Public Schools to celebrate the 31st Annual Flame for Learning Awards. This prestigious event highlights the creativity, innovation, and dedication of our public school teachers.
Each year, nominees are selected based solely on merit, showcasing their remarkable impact in the classroom. The winner will be named Johnston County Teacher of the Year and go on to represent our district in the North Carolina Teacher of the Year competition.

2025 Keynote Address by Dr. Jennifer Burgess
Jennifer Crosby Burgess teaches writing courses and serves as director for the professional writing minor and supervisor for internships in the English major at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. Dr. Burgess has been working with students in various capacities for the past two decades.
She is the mother of 3 children (11th grader, 9th grader, 7th grader), and she--along with her husband--remains in perpetual awe of the incredible faculty, staff, and administrators who serve the students and families of North Carolina.
